There are many scholarship opportunities available that students can use to help pay for college. The scholarships available are funded by 麻豆原创, the 麻豆原创 Foundation or trusted community organizations. Keep reading for more information about these scholarships and how to apply.
How to apply for 麻豆原创's Institutional and Foundation scholarships & grants:
- Apply for Admission - students must be degree seeking to receive scholarships and you will need your westernwyoming.edu email address and password to log in to the scholarship application.
- Fill Out the FAFSA: Head to and use our school code: 003933 to get started.

- Submit Test Scores and Transcripts: Make sure all your test scores and transcripts are on file, submit to documents@westernwyoming.edu if needed.

This opportunity is a 麻豆原创 departmental scholarship for International Students. Applicants are required to submit a personal essay about their background and educational goals. Students who receive this scholarship must have a 3.0 GPA.
Once in our scholarship portal, sign in with your email address and password (your My麻豆原创 login credentials) that is assigned to you after applying for admission to complete the general scholarship application. After the general application has been submitted, you will be able to apply for this opportunity. A FAFSA for the 2024-2025 academic year must be on file to determine unmet need. Scholarship for students who graduated from an out-of-state high school within the last four years (exceptions made for students who served in the military or went on religious missions). Apply online by completing the general scholarship application and submit current high school transcripts, along with ACT or SAT scores. If students meet the continuing eligibility criteria the scholarship will be awarded for up to four semesters (fall and spring only).
Scholarship level requirements are based on high school GPA and composite ACT scores:

Scholarship awarded to incoming freshmen who haven鈥檛 attended any other institutions after graduation. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum of a 27 Composite ACT and a 3.75 cumulative high school GPA. Applicants must be current high school seniors and submit a sixth or seventh semester high school transcript, ACT score, apply for 麻豆原创 admission, personal essay and 3 letters of recommendation submitted by April 1st. To be eligible for this award, you must submit a completed FAFSA for the current academic year (the same year for which the award is awarded)..
All qualified applicants will then be contacted to schedule a final interview for selection. Students can apply as well as submit letters of recommendation and personal essay online beginning December 1st. Apply online at
Scholarship for students transferring to 麻豆原创 after attending another post-secondary educational institution. Transfer must occur within 5 years of last college attendance. Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 college GPA and completed a minimum of 12 college credit hours. A completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the applicable academic year is required to to determine need. To apply, click the red button above (#4.)

This scholarship is awarded to students who have completed high school in Sweetwater County and apply for a degree-seeking program within two years of their high school completion date. Students must be registered in 6-15 credits and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 each semester to receive the scholarship up to four semesters in total. No application is needed as the scholarship is awarded upon receipt of final high school transcripts for those who qualify.
A Wyoming State Scholarship for Wyoming high school graduates. Initiate up to four years from natural graduation. May use 4 semesters at any Wyoming Community College and 4 semesters at University of Wyoming. There are 4 levels. A final HS transcript is required along with recent ACT / SAT scores.

Steps to access External Scholarship Applications in My麻豆原创:
ALL students will be required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid as many scholarships require information from FAFSA to determine aid. The FAFSA must be completed every year.
The Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
BLM issues financial assistance through grants and cooperative agreement awards to institutions of higher education, non-profit organizations, state and local governments, foreign entities and Indian tribal governments for projects that meet the BLM mission and falls in line with the Department of the Interior鈥檚 top priorities.
Federal Financial Assistance (FA) is transferring something of value to a recipient in order to accomplish a public purpose of support or stimulation authorized by Federal statue.
Two $1,500 Scholarships Available
Available to Wyoming College Students
The Clifford P. Hansen Memorial Scholarship is in remembrance of Clifford Hansen, who was known as a Teton country rancher, Past President of Wyoming Stock Growers Association, the Governor of Wyoming and a U.S. Senator. The Memorial Scholarship was established through contributions received in memory of Senator Hansen and other departed WSGA leaders. It recognizes outstanding college students pursuing an education related to Wyoming's agriculture or natural resources. WSGA believes that continuing education is an important asset for youth. The $1,500 cash scholarships will be awarded for the upcoming academic year.
To be eligible, students, parents, and/or guardian must be a member in good standing of WSGA. The applicants must be a sophomore, junior, or senior for the upcoming Fall semester, or a senior who is graduating and has been accepted into graduate school for the concurrent semester. The students must be enrolled full-time at the University of Wyoming or a Wyoming Community College, have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, and be majoring in agriculture or a natural resource related field. The winners will be approved by the WSGA trustees based on recommendation from the WSGA Executive Committee. The scholarship winners will be announced at the Wyoming Cattle Industry Convention & Trade Show. Winners will be notified prior and invited to attend to be recognized in front of WSGA membership and supporters.
To apply for this scholarship, the applicant must submit an official transcript and essay of 500 words or less addressing the following questions:
- What have you gained from your college experience?
- What leadership roles have you acquired since starting college and how have those leadership roles influenced you?
- How do your post-college plans involve agriculture or natural resources?
- What characteristics distinguish you as deserving this scholarship?

Douvas Memorial Scholarship is a First Generation American Scholarship that Peter George Douvas, an immigrant from Greece, outlined in his will that a sum of money be left to the Wyoming Department of Education. The department will use this year鈥檚 money to establish a $500.00 scholarship to be awarded to a first-generation American youth who demonstrates need and motivation to attend college.

The Hawthorn Foundation provides a scholarship intended to enable highly motivated individuals to improve their life circumstances through education and training. Applicants must reside in Wyoming and may be: traditional students, GED graduates, nontraditional adults, individuals who did not finish high school and have not obtained a GED but would like to obtain a GED and pursue an education, low-income adults who are returning to school or starting a higher education for the first time, first generation students, or returning military. Horatio Alger Association was established in 1947 and began awarding scholarships in 1984. Since the first scholarship award the Association has awarded over $125 million in need-based aid to students who hope to pursue their American Dream. For the 2024-2025 school year, students can receive awards up to $2,500 to pursue career and technical education.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Have completed high school or earned their high school equivalency credential.
- Be enrolled in a 2 year or less career or technical degree/certificate program in Fall that will lead to employment.
- Attend a not-for-profit post-secondary institution.
- Demonstrate financial need; applicants must be Pell Grant eligible.
- Be younger than 30 years old.
- Be a United States citizen.

The Mary N. Brooks Scholarship started out as a loan fund in 1909. The state president at the time was Mrs. Mary Brooks, wife of then governor, Bryan B. Brooks. It is now a scholarship fund awarded annually to a high school senior or returning college student with special consideration being given to a child or grandchild of a GFWC Wyoming Clubwoman.
Annual Deadline: April 15th
In 1978 Ruth Clare Yonkee, GFWC Wyoming State President, donated the $1,300 allowed for her travel and presidential expenses to establish the Ruth Clare Yonkee District Scholarship Fund. This scholarship is given to a high school senior or returning student. It should be noted that this scholarship rotates between GFWC Wyoming districts. Check the annual application form to confirm your eligibility.

This scholarship is for students who are currently attending a Wyoming Community College and intend to transfer to University of Wyoming (Laramie Campus). Funding varies based on the scholarship awarded and is paid over eight consecutive semesters as long as a 2.5 GPA is maintained upon receipt. Each year, WyHy recognizes four outstanding student members who demonstrate academic excellence and show a commitment to their communities via extracurricular activities and achievements.
To be eligible for one of two (2) $2,000 and (2) $1,000 one time scholarships for the 2024-2025 school year, applicants must:
- Be a member with a share savings account as a primary or joint owner for at least a year.
- Be registered, or planning to register, as a full time student in a U.S. accredited undergraduate college, university, or technical school.
- Not be an employee or relative of an employee. Volunteers and relatives of Volunteers are also not eligible.

The Wyoming NASA Space Grant Consortium sponsors education and research programs in the state of Wyoming in support of NASA missions, serving as a link between citizens of the state and NASA programs. It is one of 52 consortia representing each state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Our programs include research fellowships and internships for students at the University of Wyoming and Wyoming community colleges, scholarship programs for community college students in STEM majors, grants for college and university faculty, and educational resources and programs for Wyoming K-12 students and teachers.
The Wyoming Scottish Rite Foundation Scholarship is for graduates of Wyoming high schools or holders of a Wyoming GED enrolling in college. Scholarship recipients must be enrolled full-time during the year the scholarship is used. Completion of a full course load with a minimum 2.0 GPA is required for renewal. Interested applicants need to complete the application, have two letters of reference, and a color photo of applicant. Applications may be downloaded or picked up in the Financial Aid office.
