Midterm Madness

As we are about to get into our midterms, students including myself are having to buckle down. Are we caught up with all of our assignments, and that we understand what we鈥檙e learning? So what are some things that we as students can do to help make sure that it鈥檚 smooth sailing through our midterms?
Self-Care
Whenever it comes to big exams and working on big projects, you sometimes forget that your physical and mental wellbeing is super important. Yet we often forget to make sure we take care of ourselves. Some small ways you can help make sure you鈥檙e taking care of yourself is making sure you have plenty of water and keeping yourself hydrated. Have snacks nearby, take frequent standing and bathroom breaks, and most importantly, make sure you bathe and sleep. One of the biggest things I鈥檝e noticed is that when midterms or finals come around, students are losing a lot of sleep and aren鈥檛 taking care of themselves in the small ways.
Create a Study Plan
Creating a study plan is a smart way to make sure that you stay on top of all of your assignments and that you cover all the bases when working on your exams and projects. So at the beginning of the week, mark up a calendar or block out a digital calendar with the times that you鈥檒l be studying and how long you鈥檙e studying for. Include the subjects you're studying or working on during these different blocks. When you block out your time, it gives you a visual of what you鈥檙e working on. I find it kinda helps let up on some stress you might be having, and you can always adjust your study blocks accordingly.
Seek Additional Support
If you鈥檙e struggling with studying the material or struggling to work on your projects, don鈥檛 be afraid to reach out to your classmates and professors for help. Sometimes when working with peers, especially study groups, you鈥檙e giving yourself the opportunity to learn your classmates' perspectives on the assignments and see how they鈥檙e processing the information and applying it. If that鈥檚 not enough, reach out to your professor with any clarifying questions that you might have about your assignments.
Remember to Eat
Eating is the most important thing that you should be doing whenever you鈥檙e studying. It鈥檚 important to eat in general. When you鈥檙e not eating, you鈥檙e depriving your body of much needed energy, your mood begins to change and you tend to be cranky, you have a harder time focusing, and your immune system might have a harder time making sure that it stays healthy. So it鈥檚 super important to just make sure you鈥檙e eating something so you鈥檙e able to keep on top of your health.
Best of luck for all students for their midterms!
