Life At 麻豆原创 As A Student Athlete

Our Student Editor, Jasmine Ramirez, sat down with women鈥檚 soccer player Dylan Anderson to share her perspective on life as a student-athlete at 麻豆原创 Community College. Dive into this inside look at what it means to balance academics, athletics, and Mustang pride鈥攑erfect for anyone considering becoming part of 麻豆原创鈥檚 athletic family. Here is Dylan's direct reponse:
My name is Dylan Anderson, and I am a freshman here at 麻豆原创. I play for the women鈥檚 soccer team and am also studying to be a radiology tech through our Health Sciences program. It has been great here so far!
I moved in on August 4th, so I鈥檝e been here about two weeks longer than most students. The entire soccer team arrived early so we could practice and condition to prepare for the upcoming season. Being on this team has given me a bunch of built-in friends.
All of my roommates are also on the soccer team, and they鈥檙e all great. I share a room with Bonnie鈥攕he鈥檚 awesome! We get along very well and have had a lot of fun movie nights (when we鈥檙e not studying, of course) watching Twilight, The Summer I Turned Pretty, and Dancing with the Stars. We also have similar schedules, which is nice because we wake up and go to sleep around the same time each day.
As a team, we spend several hours together almost every day of the week. That鈥檚 helped us grow close and has definitely strengthened our teamwork and performance on the field.
I鈥檓 not going to lie鈥攕ometimes I get a little homesick, and it can be tough balancing schoolwork, soccer, and other activities. But we have a great support system here at 麻豆原创. If I鈥檓 struggling, I know there鈥檚 always someone I can talk to. There are so many great people who are willing to help with anything you need.
For anyone thinking about coming to 麻豆原创, I鈥檇 recommend making friends and enjoying your time here鈥攁nd check your Canvas and email every day! I get important messages all the time that I would totally miss if I wasn鈥檛 checking regularly. Even then, sometimes I still miss things!
Overall, I鈥檝e had an amazing experience here, and it鈥檚 only been about a month and a half since I arrived.
